We're recently returned from a great show at MRKet NY showing our Spring Summer 2018 collection and meeting many of our partners in the US before our Autumn/Fall road trips. Around the show there's a great buzz of enthusiasm, dapper menswear, and a meeting of many people that take this opportunity to come together from afar. It is an occasion for many stores to select the collections they will be stocking for forthcoming seasons. It's always a pleasure to see our partners and show them the new collection. Always fresh and helping you set yourself apart, we design new collections for each coming season and showcasing them is as much as a joy as wearing them. A little something new, a little something different. The Javits Centre where the show...
Getting Political. Apparently, in the UK parliament male MP's are permitted to not wear their ties into the house. So, a suit and open collar formal shirt without a tie. That's so down with the kids right.. Surely with all the pomp and formality that surrounds such an establishment, so too should such respect be paid to the formality, codes and conduct of mens-wear. Not least, for the vast majority of male MP's it would be the safer sartorial option. It's not just the throw away nature of such a stance, the 'we can do without with this garment' that is so poorly considered, but it's the whole idea that the tie is something worth giving up. To be replaced...
A close up on hand-made For discerning dressers, dandy's, sartorialist's and the like, once the overall well fitted look has been accomplished - with quality and in style, the final touches are all about the detail. This can be about finely tuning the length of a garment, additional accessorising, a little extra colourising here or there, and so on. It is also very much about the fine finishing of a garment itself, whether it be in the quality of stitching, the way patterns are cut and aligned, a crafted button hole, the buttons themselves. One of the reasons why hand-made and bespoke wear is as desirable as it is, is as much to do with the artisanal quality of garment...
An exploration of men of note, dressing well. The Actor While splitting the actor from the character is an almost impossible thing to do, probably the most obvious sartorial choice from the acting fraternity with almost 6 decades of fine-dapper-wear is Bond, with arguably the biggest well-dressed cue's coming from Connery, Brosnan and Craig. However, for our exploration we're going a little off-piste and while offering absolute recognition to Bond, are reaching beyond the obvious models and featuring the one Bond often only in receipt of a short page when digesting a history of 007 in cinematic production. Our Bond stands out for his dapperness not only as 007 (the first), but also very much in all his other varied roles over the...
The Black-Tie. Unless you celebrate Xmas dinner events on a monthly basis, regularly frequent evening award or charity events, or have double '0' status and participate in high stake poker games at private Casino's in luxurious locations, it's likely that your occasions for the black-tie are few and far between. So on the evenings you happen to have one, and with it the opportunity to dress up, it's important to take it seriously and, of course, get it right. The heritage of what we are a part of when wearing the black-tie dates back to the Victorian era where, while still remaining formal, a more relaxed convention of dress was accepted for dinner; principally switching from tails (on the jacket) to the shorter dinner jacket and,...
